How to find leads for Digital Marketing Agency

Finding your next client or first client for your Digital Marketing agency was difficult but not impossible. But where to get them and how many people you need to reach was the question.

You may have reached 1, 10, or 50 people either from your contacts in your phone or from your friends and family, and no one shows interest or buys your service.

So, now you need to think outside of the box and find leads that say yes to your offer, which has less than a 1% chance.

So, I have tried and many successful business people like Alex from $100M Lead also recommend these 3 methods to get leads.

Your Email Contacts

Your email contacts are a valuable resource for potential leads. These individuals have already given you permission to contact them.

Open your phone or laptop and access your email contacts. Take note of all the emails you have sent or received and record them in a spreadsheet.

If your service is B2C, reaching out to your contacts in a warm manner is the best way to attract clients. Since these contacts know you, a small warm-up can help them understand and be interested in your offer.

For example, if you offer services like managing social media for individuals, personal branding, or public relations, a warm reach-out is ideal.

On the other hand, if your service is for B2B clients, you need to spend at least two emails to warm up and make them feel more comfortable.

Segment your email list based on interests or demographics. This allows you to send more relevant messages to different groups of people.

Your Social Media Contacts

Social media is another great way to find leads. After all, there are billions of people active on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Similar to email contacts, open your social media profiles and go to your followers list. Review each profile to identify who would benefit from your service and has the ability to pay for it. If you come across a follower who needs your help but can’t afford your services, it’s better to reach out to them later. You can do this in the coming months.

So, you need to have a clear picture or rough draft of what your ideal lead wants and what their income is.

If you run out of contacts, I recommend checking the followers and following of the best leads in your existing contacts.

Database

Reaching out to 1000 people a day or finding new leads every day can be challenging. Once your email and social media contacts are exhausted, it becomes less likely that you will reach new clients.

If you feel that you have exhausted your contact list and your offer isn’t generating interest, you might consider stopping your digital marketing agency without acquiring a single client.

In 2023, there are several database software options available, each with their own pros and cons. These databases contain millions of contacts, including emails, job roles, company sizes, industries, and social media profiles.

With these databases, you can reach as many leads as possible. The software provides filters to select the right set of leads for your offer and allows you to email them.

I personally use Snov.io, which costs me around $40 per month. With this software, I can choose more than 1000 verified leads, allowing me to reach over 1000 leads every month.

There are also other software options like Instantly, Reply.io, and more.

This method mainly focuses on business leads, as most of them only display companies with more than 2 employees. If you are targeting personal clients, I suggest trying free trials of the mentioned software options and choosing the one that works best for you.

Fact Check

Many people believe that sending 1000 emails to leads will automatically bring them clients, but that’s not how it works. There are many external factors that impact your success, such as the offer you’re making, the problem you’re solving, pricing, and more.

Sometimes it may take 10 cold emails to acquire your first client, while other times it could take more than 100, 1000, or even 10,000.

So, be realistic and give yourself 3–6 months to build consistency.

My Workflow

As the owner of a social media marketing agency (SMM), I use all of these methods.

Let me explain my process. My target leads are SAAS companies. I start by searching for the best start-ups that may require my services on LinkedIn and Twitter. I visit their company websites and copy the URL, which I then paste into Snov Domain Search. This tool searches for emails and LinkedIn profiles associated with the company. I reach out to the CEO or Marketing Head, depending on the company size.

I collect this information in my spreadsheet. Then, I go back to LinkedIn. On the left side of the screen, LinkedIn displays similar companies, and the same happens on Twitter and Instagram (via the drop-down icon). I repeat the process of searching for website URLs and using Snov Domain Search. I continue this loop until I find a minimum of 20 leads in one sitting.

Once I have the emails and social media profiles, I start a warm reach-out on both mediums.

If you would like to know more about how I send emails to prospects and my cold email workflow, please let me know in the comments or by clapping this post. Your feedback will guide me in creating content on that topic. I can also create a video demonstrating my cold email workflow.

Conclusion

Finding your next client or first client for your Digital Marketing agency can be a challenging task. However, there are several proven methods that can help you generate leads. Utilizing your email contacts and reaching out to friends, family, and social media contacts can be effective for B2C clients. For B2B clients, personalized emails can establish trust and comfort. Another method is leveraging your social media contacts by analyzing profiles and identifying potential clients. Additionally, using database software like Snov.io can help you target the right set of leads. It’s important to remember that finding clients may not guarantee immediate success, so be patient and persistent in your outreach efforts.
